This article explores the Templar class at surface level. For anyone who is just starting out and want to learn more about the class, here you’ll find a rather complete class introduction. But if you want to get your hands on a much more in-depth reference and the unique strategies to easily master the class, then this Aion Templar Guide is one you should not forget to check out. This guide can work wonders for any player when referred to along with this Aion Guide and this Aion Kinah Guide.

Templars are the best tanking class in Aion. They are primarily built for tanking, giving them more defense and aggression-building skills than the Gladiator. This class is, later in the game, very necessary for groups in many areas.

The Templar will generally use a sword and shield, although it is able to use other weapons as well, such as greatswords. Along with this, the Templar is able to use any type of armor, but Plate is the one with the highest defense so using anything else would be ineffective.

One of the most important things to know about this class is that although their defense is high, their attack power is not. This keeps them from being a DPS class, although if they use a greatsword it will enhance their attack power (though not by a lot, compared to the other classes).

Their main priority is solely to tank mobs for groups. To assist with this, there are many, many skills that will draw the mob’s aggression towards them, making the mobs attack them instead of their allies. Using these effectively will ensure that mobs stay on the tank and not on anyone else (which could potentially cause a group to wipe).

The high points of the Templar are :

  • The highest defense in the game!
  • The ability to draw aggression from group members to themselves
  • The ability to use multiple weapon types

The low points are :

  • Low damage output when compared to other classes
  • They are, if played effectively, the first person to die in groups
  • They must play very actively as groups will rely on them being attentive

The Templar is as important as Clerics (or Chanters) are in groups, giving them a central role. Because of this, they are unable to go AFK randomly in a group or everyone may die. For some, this actively-contributing role is a positive, for others it is a negative.

Templars soloing should not have too many issues due to their defense, however killing mobs may take a little longer than other classes. In groups is where the Templar is most effective, as they can tank mobs for the higher damaging classes (such as Sorcerers, Assassins, or Rangers).

Conclusion : The Templar is the tanking group in Aion. Their goal is to keep mobs off other players and on themselves. Due to this, they have a central, active role in grouping. Along with this, they can play as a DPS character, although not as effective as other classes.

Aion Ranger

Ranger Emblem

Ranger emblem

This article explores the Ranger class at surface level. For anyone who is just starting out and want to learn more about the class, here you’ll find a rather complete class introduction. But if you want to get your hands on a much more in-depth reference and the unique strategies to easily master the class, then this Aion Ranger Guide is one you should not forget to check out. This guide can work wonders for any player when referred to along with this Aion handbook and this Aion Kinah-making Guide.

Ranger EmblemRangers are the premiere kiting class in Aion. This class is able to attack enemies from afar, even while running! Not only are they able to deal damage while running, they also have the possibility to snare (slow) enemies at the same time. Tack this on to the fact that they have traps they can lay (that do anything from rooting enemies into the ground to dealing a great deal of damage to them) and you have a solid DPS character. The Ranger is are great for not only solo combat but group combat as well.

Their strong benefits are :

  • Ability to kite enemies from a distance, attacking while running
  • Decent evasion, although lower than the Assassins
  • Ability to snare enemies to slow their run speed down
  • Ability to lay a variety of traps that do things such as root or damage enemies

Their weak points are :

  • Not able to take too many mobs at once due to low evasion
  • Low defense so more damage is taken from enemies
  • Normal bow shooting is very weak compared to skills
  • Traps are somewhat expensive and can sometimes fail

The Ranger’s weapon of choice is the bow, although they also have skills for swords or daggers (or a mixture of the two). Generally, in groups the Rangers will be using their melee weapons and solo they will use bows. The daggers or swords have a higher attack power than the bows do, plus faster attacks, making them much more efficient. In solo play, however, kiting is the best method of leveling because the amount of damage taken during battles is significant. There are various Ranger strategies like this one that players can employ to enhance their character’s performance for different scenerios.

The Ranger is only able to use Cloth or Leather armor which is why their defense is so low. Because of this, they can be considered as “Glass Cannons,” meaning they are able to deal a lot of damage but also take a lot in return.

Conclusion : The Ranger is a “Glass Cannon” class. They are able to deal much damage but at the same time take a great deal of damage. In terms of their battle styles, they have two very different ones. One revolves around duals (either daggers, swords, or one of each) and relies on groups to do the tanking for them. The other revolves around bows and is the best method for solo combat, relying on traps and snares to keep enemies from attacking them.

Don’t forget to take a look at this Ranger Guide for more advance information about the class. Not an Ranger? Check out the other Aion guides in the same set and stay one step ahead of other Atreia dwellers.

Aion Gladiator

Gladiator Emblem

Gladiator emblem

In this article, you’ll find a brief intro to the class but if you’re looking for more, then you might want to take a look at the this Gladiator guide. Packed with unique strategies and detailed explanations on how to prepare yourself to survive in the faction war as a Gladiator, the guide is recommended for every serious player. With class-specific leveling strategies, gear recommendations and money-making tips, the guide is rich with useful information for both Elyos and Asmodian alike.

The Gladiator is the only damage dealing class that has the ability to use Plate armor. This is a very important aspect of them, because they are not only able to dish out insane amounts of damage but they are also able to take a lot of hits.

The Gladiator can be considered as a sort of hybrid tank. They do have many skills that increase their aggression on mobs, as well as have a nice amount of defense, but their defense is not as great as the Templars. On the same token, their attack power is much greater than the Templar’s.

The good points of being a Gladiator are :

  • Only damage dealer with the ability to use Plate armor
  • Ability to use almost every possible weapon
  • Ability to be a tank when necessary

The negatives to being a Gladiator are :

  • Lower damage than most other damage dealing classes

There really are not many negatives to being a Gladiator, mostly only positives. Due to how they are set up, they are very solid. The only real issue is their lack of damage when compared to classes such as the Ranger, Assassin, Sorcerer, or the Spiritmaster. But at the same time, they are able to tank, giving them a very unique stance when it comes to grouping.

In terms of Gladiators’ weapons, they can use Bows, Blunts, Swords, Duals, Daggers, or Greatswords. This gives them a huge amount of leverage when it comes to searching for items, although generally they will use either dual swords or Greatswords.

In solo combat the Gladiator just acts like the other damage dealing classes; they just attack mobs in the hopes of killing them before they are killed. The real change comes when they join a group with other players. To further enhance their performance in groups, Gladiator macros and add-ons can be an option.

In a group environment, the Gladiator has to first figure out what their goal is; whether they are going to be tanking the mob(s) or just assisting with killing them. This will influence their skill usage because some skills build aggression and others do not. Being able to distinguish between the two types is a very important goal of all Gladiators.

Conclusion : The Gladiator is one of the most solid build classes in Aion. They are a damage dealer but have the ability to use Plate armor, giving them both damage output and defense. They are also given many skills to help build aggression of mobs, giving them the ability to tank when and if it is needed. This makes the Gladiator very unique!
