Mages are the “spell casters” of Aion. Their primary goal is to destroy enemies by using magic spells. Up until their Ascension there is only one real choice on how to kill mobs; spells. After the Ascension they then have the choice of either going Sorcerer, which can nuke mobs with spells, or Spiritmaster, which relies on summons.

Much like the Rogues, Mages have very low defense but deal a great amount of damage to enemies. What brings the Mages up above them, however, is the ability to launch ranged attacks even at low levels. This helps somewhat compensate for their low defense by allowing them to toss out a few attacks before their enemies reach them. At the same time, however, their spells can be canceled by enemies fairly easy, leaving them vulnerable to being pummeled.

The Mages are forced to use only one type of armor; Cloth. This is the lowest defense possible, which puts them in a very delicate situation when it comes to having to tank the mobs (solo) or when pulling aggression of mobs (when grouped). Once the class is learned well, however, it is quite easy to battle enemy foes!

The high points of this class are :

• Great damage potential using spells
• The ability to attack enemies from a distance

The low points of them are :

• The lowest defense out of all of the classes
• Spells can be canceled by enemies

Pushing through this Mage class is significantly easier than Rogues, but still harder than the others. Much like with Rogues, however, keeping at it will yield great results.

The weapons of choice are Spellbooks and Orbs, both of which are used for magical damage rather than melee.

In solo combat, the Mages will rely on just dealing as many magical attacks as possible while only taking on one mob at a time. Taking on two is a sure-fire way to die, being that it doubles the chances of being canceled while casting.

When grouped, the risk of death goes down quite a bit because someone else is also dealing damage (and/or tanking), lowering the amount of time the mob lives.

Conclusion : Much like the Rogue classes, Mages have very low defense but are able to dish out huge amounts of damage. Thankfully they are able to use ranged attacks, allowing them to get in a hit or two before their enemies are within range of attacking them. At the same time, they can also be canceled once their enemy gets within range, potentially raising the possibility of death.

The Spiritmaster is a summoning class in Aion. Their primary focus is, rather than doing damage directly to enemies, to allow their summons to do the killing for them. To do so, they are given many different buffs and heals for their summons, helping to maximize their efficiency in combat.

As a Spiritmaster there are many different types of summons. They can range from tanking types to damage dealers, and in the DPS range they can be melee, ranged, or magical ranged. Choosing which type of summon to use in various situations is essential to playing a Spiritmaster efficiently, however they are specialized for a variety of different situations.

The positive aspects of the Spiritmaster are :

• Ability to allow summons to kill mobs

The Spiritmaster relies on Cloth armor, causing them to take a lot of damage from enemies. This class has one of the lowest defenses in Aion, equal to that of the Sorcerers. Because of this, their survivability is lower than most when it comes to PvP. During PvE, however, the Spiritmaster excels.

In solo combat the Spiritmaster usually has no issues slaying mobs, because they allow their summons to do the tanking for them. This gives them a huge advantage over most other classes, being that they are not always up on the front line. At the same time, their summon dying can be detrimental to their character’s life. Keeping the summons alive is by far the most important thing to do as a Spiritmaster. Ofcourse there are numerous Spiritmaster tips and tricks to help players elevate the class.

In groups, the Spiritmaster will sometimes choose different summons than when solo, due to efficiency. For example, if the Spiritmaster is in a group with a tank, there is no reason to use a more defense-based summon. Instead, they are able to use their strongest attacking summon.

Conclusion : The Spiritmaster is the summoning class in Aion. Although they do not have many attacks to directly use on their enemies, they have summons to do all of the “dirty work” for them. Although this is true, the Spiritmaster’s defense is low, causing them to rely on their summon most of the time. The Sorcerer is the only pure “nuking” class in Aion. Their primary focus is on using their magical spells to dish out significant amounts of damage to their enemies, whether it be in PvE or PvP based combat. They are one of the most deadly classes to watch for, but are also one of the easiest to kill.

The Sorcerer’s attacks are almost all magical based, putting them in a delicate situation. Whereas the other classes have ways of dealing with interruptions, the Sorcerer has to rely on not being interrupted. Otherwise, they are liable to lose their battle.

The good points of being a Sorcerer are :

• Huge amounts of damage
• Ability to launch ranged attacks
• Magical defense is something people lack more than physical defense

The negative aspects are :

• Extremely low defense
• In solo combat, they are forced to tank
• Usually one of the primary targets in PvP

There are many ways to strengthen the weak points of this class. By far the best part of being a full-on magical character is more people lack jewelry (magical defense) than armor (physical defense). This puts the Sorcerers are a huge advantage when it comes to PvP, however does not help that much in PvE. In PvE while solo the Sorcerer has to be extremely careful because otherwise they will be slain rather quickly.

As a solo Sorcerer, choosing the right mobs and area to hunt is extremely important. They focus on mobs where they are able to only pull one at a time, rather than multiple. Doing this allows them to quickly slay their enemy without going through a lot of risk of pulling more mobs.

When it comes to group combat, the Sorcerer has one of the easiest play styles. Whereas most classes worry about what their style should be during which type of battle, the Sorcerer is a straight up damage dealer. This causes their only real worry to be whether or not they are going to end up pulling the aggression of mobs off the tank. This is a very common issue in groups, due to tanks not being able to hold aggression when it comes to huge damage-dealing characters. Over time, however, this is learned just by playing the class more.

Conclusion : The Sorcerer is one of the most deadly, and also easiest slain, classes in Aion. Their focus is on using various magical attacks on their enemies, which is both a positive and a negative. On the positive side, in PvP they are at the advantage due to people not having the best jewelry. On the negative, their spells can, and sometimes are, canceled.
